Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut |
The luxurious Foxwoods Resort is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. It is the largest casino in the world, yet, one of the less-touted and significant attributes of this wonderful Native-Owned destination is the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, which is a short five-minute shuttle ride from the Resort.
The Museum and Research Center offers engaging experiences for all ages, from life-size walk-through dioramas that transport visitors into the past, to changing exhibits and live performances of contemporary arts and cultures. Extensive interactive exhibits depict 18,000 years of Native and natural history, while two libraries, including one for children, offer a diverse selection of materials on the histories and cultures of all Native peoples of the United States and Canada. The Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.
Accommodations at the Resort total 1,416 guest rooms and suites, including the 824 room Grand Pequot Tower, 312 room Great Cedar Hotel and the 280-room Two Trees Inn. For conventions and group events, Foxwoods features more than 55,000 square feet of meeting space and 25 conference rooms.
